Designer Q&A | Tluxe.

There is nothing I love more than coming home and throwing on my comfiest clothes. A great pair of
grey trackies fitted around the ankle and a simple tee is my go-to.
This is where my introductory to Tluxe comes in...

Tluxe is an Australian label that is all about understated luxury, lovingly made in Australia.
Designer Rebecca Powell created the label in 2006, fusing the two words 'deluxe' and 'tee' together.
She applied the concept to design a series of limited edition collections with a focus on immaculate craftsmanship
and innovative design - with basic pieces of tees and trackies, aswell as sophisticated pieces (bombers and shirts)
made for layering. In all aspects, it is important that fluidity and comfort is key.

Tluxe's Autumn/Winter 2014 collection is titled "Symphonic Seasons
and the aim is all about "exploring the idea of effortless dressing with an air of understated elegance".
The collection is bursting full of easy-to-wear pieces - that slouchy pant in midnight blue and cool black
jacket that adds a certain touch of sophistication, amongst many other minimalistic wardrobe stables.
I love the idea of pairing a pair of sleek tracksuit pants with a sheer shirt under a long collarless jacket.

I was lucky enough to ask the creative mind behind Tluxe a few questions...

1. Name. Age. Occupation.
Rebecca Powell. 44. Fashion Designer and Founder of Tluxe.

2. How did Tluxe begin?
Tluxe began when I realised that there was a gap in the market for Australian made, well cut basics that
lasted more than a few washes. The business started on my kitchen table in Tamarama and was inspired
by the ease of the relaxed Australian lifestyle and living by the beach.

3. Where do you draw inspiration from when designing a new collection?
Art, film, era, nature, travel people... it's really what is inspiring me at the time
when I start to design my new range.

4. What type of girl do you have in mind when designing?
Strong and independent, comfortable in her own skin and understands her own style and does not
need to be dictated by fickle fashion trends.

5. What is your favourite piece from the AW'14 collection?
The animal army print pantsuit.

6. Who would you most like to see in your pieces?
Claudia Karvan.

7. Where to next for Tluxe?
We are moving our pop up shop in Bondi to a permanent location and starting to develop
a capsule mens collection.

Tluxe AW'14 is now available online the e-boutique aswell as through selected stockists nationally.
